axpand ng - New Generation Automatic Generalization
Axes Systems has provided its customers with high levels of automated generalization for many years.
The new generalization technology in axpand is the most advanced generalization technology on the market today.
Not only does ng include upwards of 45 generalization algorithms, but combines these with workflow logic. Workflow logic makes it possible to set up a generalization process that mirrors the way humans generalize cartographic information. Generalization is treated as a holistic process that includes algorithms which are applied in succession as an entire process and are steered by contraints or conditions.
Integrated model transformation functionality makes it possible to generalize from one source model to one or more completely different target models and also from one scale to another.
Constraints, which are the rules for minimum distance, sizes, etc., can be entered, adjusted and maintained easily since they are stored in files that are created using commerically available spreadsheets.
Generalization zones....
This truly unique functionality allows for the generalization of different areas of a map using different constraints. A city center, for example, can be generalized completely differently than a rural area within the same process.
