Generalization Examples - German Digital Topographic Maps
The following are examples of generalization of 10'000 scale maps. On the left is the ungeneralized version, on the right the generalized version and below the generalized version with automatic text placement.
The generalization of four 10'000 scale map sheets with approx. 165'000 objects took a total of 3 hours and 45 minutes. 500 pieces of text were placed in 7 minutes. (Source: LVermGeo Sachsen-Anhalt, Data: NAS data according to GeoInfoDok Version 6.0)

The following are examples of generalization of 25'000 maps. The data is migrated to a German AAA data model from a special German NAS interface and generalized according to German specifications. On the left is an ungeneralized version, on the right a generalized version and below the generalized version with automatic text placement.
The generalization of one 25'000 scale map sheet with approx. 155,000 objects took a total of 3 hours and 10 minutes. 184 pieces of text were placed in 4 minutes. (Source: LVermGeo Sachsen-Anhalt, Data: NAS data according to GeoInfoDok Verison 6.0)
